TEMPLE (March 14, 2014) A ribbon-cutting and open house are scheduled next Thursday to mark the opening of the new United Way of Central Texas Center in Temple.
The center is the first building the UWCT has owned since it was created it 1952.
The center was funded entirely through donations from local leaders and businesses, and fundraising is still underway.
Representatives of Temple and Belton will issue a joint proclamation to mark the opening at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the center at 604 North 3rd St. in Temple.
A press conference will be held, followed by the ribbon cutting and open house.
The public is invited to tour the facility from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Thursday.
“Our new Center provides a central location for enhanced, broad-based community impact and serves as a resource for local area nonprofit organizations, civic groups, and grass root initiatives,” UWCT Executive Director Ann Thompson said.
“We now have the space to launch our own new programs and partnerships to address service gaps that exist within the community. This would not have been possible without donations from leaders in the community,” she said.
