TEMPLE (January 7, 2013)—Temple police were trying to track down robbers Monday after five holdups in a single day on Saturday.
The first occurred just before 6 a.m. in the 500 block of North 2nd Street where the victim said a man approached him as he was leaving a parking lot, displayed a gun and ordered him out of his car.
The victim drove off, leaving the would-be robber standing in the road.
The man police are seeking is black, 5-foot-10, has a medium build and was wearing a light colored hooded sweatshirt and white athletic shoes.
The second incident was reported just before noon Saturday at the Dollar General Store at 1608 South 57th St. where one of the store’s employees was struck by a vehicle driven by a fleeing shoplifter.
The employee declined medical treatment.
Police are looking for two suspects in that incident.
One was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark pants and the other was dressed entirely in dark clothing.
Just after 8 p.m. officers responded to the Domino’s Pizza at 4103 South 31st St. in response to a report that a deliveryman was attacked and robbed while making a delivery in the 800 block of South 18th Street a half hour earlier.
The robber, who was black and wearing a dark jacket, gray sweatshirt, dark pants and dark shoes, slugged the victim in the face, grabbed his pizzas and ran, police said.
Less than an hour later, at 8:50 p.m. officers were sent to the Shell station at 3216 West Adams Ave. where a man armed with a gun robbed the clerk and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
The robber was 5-foot-7, weighed about 150 pounds and was wearing a light colored hooded sweatshirt with a blue hood.
The last incident happened just after 11 p.m. at a Subway on North 29th Street where the victim told officers a man entered the restaurant, produced a handgun and demanded money.
The robber ran west with an undisclosed amount of money.
No one was hurt.
The suspect in that case was black, 17 to 25 years of age, weighed about 180 pounds and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with red lettering on the front, long dark colored shorts and black gloves. He used a piece of cloth to cover his mouth and nose.
