TEMPLE (November 8, 2013) Temple police Friday unveiled an online mapping system in cooperation with Baer Analytics, Inc., that allows residents to keep up with crime and crime trends in the city.
The system, called RAIDS Online maps, analyzes crime data based on calls that generate police reports and can be accessed through computers and smartphones.
"I'm excited that we can offer our citizens this useful tool. People often become fearful when they don't fully understand what is happening around them, and we hope the map and related details help to keep people informed and engaged about safety issues in our community" said Chief of Police Gary Smith.
The system provides a snapshot that includes basic information about the types, locations, dates and times of crimes that's updated daily.
"This system allows us to keep current information online, in the mobile application, and ultimately in the hands of our citizens who need to know" said Temple police spokesman Cpl. Christopher Wilcox.
The system also provides data from Belton, Bell County, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, Killeen, the Killeen ISD, Morgan’s Point and Troy.
