TEMPLE (December 19, 2012) --- Temple Police and the loss prevention department of the local Marshalls store are working to determine how much money an employee who created gift cards without paying for them stole.
Christopher Wilcox with the Temple Police Department said that the retailer contacted police after the problem was discovered.
The extent of the loss could be more than $1,500, which would make the offense a felony.
Wilcox said retailers are watching for this type of crime during the holidays more often because some employees may see it as an opportunity because more gift cards are being purchased.
No arrests have been made, but police say one could be made soon.
