TEMPLE (September 21, 2012)-The Central Texas Orchestral Society concert series begins Sunday.
The string orchestra, A Far Cry, does not use a conductor making for unique entertainment.
The concert series begins at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Cultural Activities Center (CAC).
A Far Cry is composed of sixteen people who formed the ensemble to make music "according to their own rules," a spokesperson said.
The orchestra is self-conducted, which event organizers say is considered groundbreaking in the world of classical music.
The group has been appointed Chamber Orchestra in Residence at Boston's Gardner Museum, and has continuously maintained an educational partnership with the New England Conservatory.
The group has also received praise from The Boston Globe.
Prior to the concert a reception will be held at 3 p.m. in Strasburger Hall.
Desserts will be served in the lobby during intermission.
Tickets for A Far Cry may be purchased at the CAC.
Tickets at the door are $25 for adults and $10 for students with ID. Active duty military and their dependents are admitted free of charge with a military ID.
Children under 6 years are not permitted admission.
The Cultural Activities Center is located at 3011 N. 3rd Street.
