TEMPLE (January 14, 2013)--Three emergency warming centers will be open Monday to provide temporary warming space for the homeless or distressed members of the community.
The decision is based on data from the National Weather Service which predicts nighttime temperatures below freezing Monday night through Thursday morning.
Warming centers will be open from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. through Thursday night at Victory Ministries at 305 S. 18th Street, Humble House at 613 S. 7th Street and Transformation Station at 503 East Central Avenue.
The Victory Ministries and Transformation Station warming centers are for men only, while the Humble House will be open to men, women and children.
Warming Centers are made possible by the City of Temple Office of Emergency Management, the nonprofit Temple Emergency Warming Center Coalition and the 2-1-1 System.
Guests will be provided a warm area for refuge, water, blankets, toilet facilities and limited hygiene items.
Call 2-1-1 for more information on the warming centers.
