TEMPLE (October 1, 2012)--The Temple/Killeen/Fort Hood U.S. Metropolitan Statistical Area ranked 20th in the best small metro college destinations for the 2012-2013 academic year according to an American Institute for Economic Research (AIER) evaluation.
The destinations are selected based on academic environment, quality of life and professional opportunities.
Academic environment includes student diversity and degree attainment while quality of life refers to the cost of living, arts and leisure, city accessibility and creative class.
Professional opportunities encompass earning potential, entrepreneurial activity, and unemployment rate.
75 areas were ranked in order of achievement based on a larger evaluation of the 227 U.S. MSAs with student populations of 15,000 or more.
This was the first time the Temple/Killeen/Fort Hood made the list.
AIER was founded in 1933 and published their first AIER College Destinations Index in 2008.
