TEMPLE (September 21, 2012)--The 11th annual Day of Caring and Campaign kicks off Saturday with more than 20 organizations participating in 17 projects around the community.
Sponsored by United Way of Central Texas, more than 300 volunteers are expected to come out on Saturday at 7 a.m. and start their day with breakfast at the Ralph Wilson Youth Club.
After breakfast, groups will split to work on their designated neighborhood project which includes painting, cleanup or other community service at 10th and 12th streets in Temple, Central Texas 4-C, Inc. in Belton, CTXC Alcohol in Temple, Peaceable Kingdom in Killeen, Boy Scouts Longhorn Council, Ralph Wilson Youth Center in Temple and many others.
Numerous organizations as well as volunteers from Fort Hood will be participating.
“At noon, everyone will gather at the VFW for our annual campaign lunch kickoff and volunteers will be recognized for their work for that day,” a United Way spokesperson said.
