TEMPLE (September 5, 2012)-The Temple Parks Foundation and Temple Parks and Leisure Services will conclude this year's Movies in the Park series on Saturday with The Adventures of Tintin, sponsored by H-E-B.
"We had to cancel the original event date for this movie due to bad weather, but we are excited to have it rescheduled for Saturday," Program Coordinator Belinda Garcia said.
Pre-movie activities will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the movie will start at sundown when it is dark enough to project on the screen.
"This is a great family-friendly evening full of activities and an entertaining movie for both children and adults," Temple Parks Foundation board member and Movies in the Park co-chair Jason Culp said.
In the movie, the adventure-seeking reporter Tintin, his dog, and a sea captain race to recover a treasure that was lost at sea centuries ago.
The movie is rated PG.
Visitors are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets.
Concessions will be available for purchase but attendees can bring their own food and ice chests.
"Visitors can expect additional parking similar to the 4th of July event at this Movies in the Park," Garcia said.
"We are very pleased with another successful Movies in the Park series this summer, and we are extremely grateful for the Temple Parks Foundation and their corporate sponsors for making the movies series possible since 2006," Parks and Leisure Services Director Ken Cicora said.
The event is free to the public and will be at Miller Park located at 1919 N. 1st Street.
