TEMPLE (February 7, 2013)--Temple resident Dale Dutschman was recognized Tuesday for his 2012 contribution of 606 hours spent in volunteer work for the city.

On Tuesday, the Temple Parks and Leisure Services held a Volunteer Appreciation Dinner recognizing Dutschman and hundreds of others.

Dutschman was recognized for serving the most hours last year. He assisted the community center with minor repairs and serving lunch, among other things.

Other individuals recognized included Amelia Ecevido who spent almost 500 hours organizing camp events and trips, James Lambert who has led a spiritual-awareness group for six years, Mike Jones who assists with the youth athletics division and Angela Bulls who provides counseling services to young women.

Herb Fuson was also recognized for his two years spent improving the city golf course and Genevieve Gregg received the Aquatics Volunteer of the Year Award for assisting youth in the swimming department.

The prestigious Fred Poteet Volunteer of the Year Award was awarded to Brian Schenk, a volunteer at the Temple Railroad Heritage Museum. Although he lives in Austin, he takes the Amtrak twice a week to work at the museum, cataloguing more than 2,000 tools, photographs and books, a Temple Parks and Leisure Services spokesperson said.

Dozens of others were recognized at the event.

Volunteers were served dinner by the Temple Parks Foundation members and Temple Parks and Leisure Services staff to thank them for their contributions.
