TEMPLE (January 18, 2013)--The Robo Monkey, a device that removes snow with the push of a button, received first place among other student inventions in the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) Area 12 Robotic Competition held recently in Temple.

Alex Castillo, a seventh grader at Travis Science Academy, beat out other elementary and middle school students participating in the competition with his invention.

The invention contest requires students to create and develop a robotic invention to solve a problem of choice.

Alex will continue on at the TCEA State Competition in April in Deer Park.

This is the third time in five years that a student from the school has qualified for the state competition.
