TEMPLE (December 18, 2012)--Temple Heat Basketball, a team created to keep children off the street, is asking for the public’s help in raising money for much-needed uniforms.

The team is currently selling Christmas singing telegrams to help pay for their January tournament, however, Coach Rebecca Thompson said it isn’t enough.

“The boys are growing out of the youth-sized uniforms that we have at hand. Some of my boys cannot attend tournaments due to the fact that I do not have a uniform that will fit them at this point,” Thompson said.

“All tournament fees and associated costs are paid for by money donated from the community,” she continued.

The 6th grade boys’ select basketball team was designed to not only create a love of the game, but teach discipline, respect and the importance of good grades.

If grades are not acceptable, the children cannot play.
