WACO (October 3, 2012)—A bicyclist escaped serious injury Wednesday evening in Waco when a minivan struck him as he rode through the intersection of South 5th Street and Clay Avenue.
The rider was taken to a local hospital for observation, but appeared to have suffered only cuts and scratches.
He was riding in a bike lane at the time of the accident.
The driver of the westbound minivan had stopped at a stop sign at the intersection, but because of the sun did not see the bicyclist, police said.
No citations were issued.
