WACO (September 13, 2013)—A state district judge sentenced a Waco man Friday to 10 consecutive life sentences after a jury convicted the defendant on 10 separate counts of sexual misconduct with a child.
Ronnie Mack Barnard, 43, won’t be eligible for parole for 300 years, a district attorney's spokesman said.
A 54th District Court jury recommended the sentences after jurors convicted Barnard earlier this week of four counts of aggravated sexual assault if a child, four counts of indecency with a child and two counts of sexual assault of a child and returned a decision that he is a habitual offender.
"Thanks to the investigation of McLennan County Sheriff's Deputy Jason Davis and the bravery of this little girl, our community is finally safe from this predatory career criminal,” said Assistant District Attorney Michelle Voirin.
Barnard, who now has been convicted of 25 felonies, was indicted on all 10 counts last May.
The assaults, which involved a single victim who was younger than 14 at the time, took place at a McLennan County residence in 2005 and 2006.
