WACO (May 17, 2013)--An elderly woman was injured Thursday evening when she fell from a moving hotel shuttle bus on Steinbeck Bend Road near the intersection with Rock Creek Road.

Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said the elderly woman was alert and conscious when she was taken by ambulance to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center for treatment.

Swanton said the bus, operated by the Clarion Inn, at South 4th Street and Interstate 35 in Waco, was taking passengers to the hotel from the Waco Regional Airport when the woman somehow fell out of the door.

Authorities at the scene Thursday evening said she was trying to hold the doors of the bus closed when she fell.

He said there were only two passengers and the driver on board when the accident happened.

Swanton said the woman evidently fell through the doors of the moving bus and onto the roadway, then rolled onto the shoulder of the road.

No other vehicles were involved, he said.
