WACO (April 2, 2013)--A former Waco Independent School District police officer was sentenced Monday after he pleaded guilty earlier to misuse of official information.

Judge Ralph Strother sentenced Ramon Yepez, 32, to serve two years deferred adjudication probation on the third-degree felony charge.

Deferred adjudication probation means if Yepez successfully completes the sentence there will be no record of final conviction.

Yepez turned himself into the McLennan County Jail in June after an arrest warrant was issued charging misuse of official information.

Waco police detectives say on June 23, 2012, Yepez used a computer terminal at the Waco ISD Police Department search the Texas Crime Information database for information about individual for an unofficial reason.

Police say Yepez later was involved in a personal altercation with that individual, police said.
