WACO (April 4, 2013)--Four area men were named in separate indictments Wednesday by a McLennan County Grand Jury in connection with three robberies in Waco.

William Slade Adair, 24, was indicted in connection with a Sept. 20, 2012 robbery at the Alon convenience store on Hillcrest Drive.

Adair had posted bond and been released from the McLennan County Jail, records showed.

Willie Lee Watson, 54, was indicted in a violent robbery on Feb. 3 outside the Compass Bank in the 900 block of Washington Avenue.

He remained in custody in the McLennan County Jail Thursday ordered held on a $100,000 bond.

Orlando Ramirez, 25, and Joshua Jack Thompson, 23, both were indicted in connection with A Dec. 8, 2012 robbery outside a Waco apartment complex.

Both Ramirez and Thompson remained in the McLennan County Jail Thursday; Ramirez held without bond after his bond on the robbery charge was revoked and on a hold on a parole violation and Thompson on a marijuana charge out of Bosque County with a $2,000 bond.

Adair was arrested on the robbery charge while he was being held on an unrelated charge in the Coryell County Jail.

He has since posted bond and been released.

Police said at the time of the robbery a man who was in the store at around 1 p.m. on Sept. 20 demanded money from the cash register and when the clerk told him she couldn't open the register, he pulled a gun and demanded that she try again.

When the second attempt also proved futile, the gunman ran from the store.

Watson, 54, was arrested after a 56-year-old victim, whose name was not released, was attacked and robbed just after 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 3 in the parking lot of Compass Bank in the 900 block of Washington Avenue.

Witnesses told officers they saw the robber running north toward Austin Avenue and Watson was arrested in the 900 block of Austin, police said.

Officers recovered the victim's cell phone, police said.

The robbery victim was taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center.

His injuries were not life threatening, police said.

Ramirez and Thompson were arrested after a victim who lives in the Gemini Village Apartments, in the 900 block of Wooded Acres Drive, called police to report he had been jumped by three men and robbed.

Swanton said the victim told officers he knew two of his assailants but the third suspect has not been identified.

Police officers who responded were nearby and when they arrived two of the suspects still were in the area and were arrested.

The 22-year-old victim suffered minor injuries in the attack, during which the suspects tried to take his wallet, but he did not require medical attention.
