WACO (November 20, 2012)--A Coryell County Jail inmate being held on an unrelated charge was served with an arrest warrant while in custody in connection with a robbery at a Waco convenience store.
William Slade Adair, 24, was transferred Friday to the McLennan County Jail after he was served with a warrant charging him with aggravated robbery in connection with a Sept. 20 robbery of the Alon store on Hillcrest Drive.
Adair was ordered held on a $40,000 bond.
A man who was in the store at around 1 p.m. on Sept. 20 demanded money from the cash register and when the clerk told him she couldn’t open the register, he pulled a gun and demanded that she try again.
When the second attempt also proved futile, the gunman ran from the store.
