WACO (April 5, 2013)--A Waco man who already was in the McLennan County Jail now faces a new charge of injury to a child.

Kendrick Javon Betters, 22, was ordered held on an additional bond of $30,000 on the injury to a child charge.

He was already in custody in lieu of bonds totaling $21,000, charged with harassment, possession of marijuana two ounces or less and failure to identify himself as a fugitive.

Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said early in March a child was taken to McLane Children's Hospital, at Scott & White, in Temple after the child was found with bruises and other injuries.

At the time of the child's injury, Betters told police the child had fallen and hurt himself, but a report from physicians at Scott & White showed the child's injuries were not consistent with a fall.

The child suffered a skull fracture.
