Waco: Local Firefighters To Be Honored For Heroism

WACO (February 27, 2013)-- Four Waco firefighters will be honored for heroism Thursday for their efforts to rescue a woman and her two children who were trapped inside a burning mobile home on Feb. 16, 2012 at 6312 North 19th St.

Despite the efforts of the firefighters, Ashley Dawn Rogers, 27, and her children Madisyn Marie Megginson, 4, and 8-month-old Gage Megginson died in the blaze.

Rogers' son Kaiden, 2, whom a neighbor rescued from the flames, was treated and later released from a local hospital.

Liberty Mutual Insurance will present firefighters Lance Beatty, David Sauer, Michael Ball and Lex Hayes with its Firemark Award for Heroism during a ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Waco Fire Emergency Services Education Center at 7601 Steinbeck Bend Rd.

The four firefighters will also be considered for the National Firemark Award.
