WACO (June 20, 2013)--A Waco man was held Thursday in the McLennan County Jail after he was arrested in connection with an attack on a local woman and her 11-year-old son.
Scott Lynn Cranford, 26, was ordered held on bonds totaling $500,000, charged with injury to a child family violence and aggravated assault family violence, the jail record showed.
Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said Cranford was arrested Wednesday on warrants issued in connection with an incident on April 31 during which a woman's arm was broken and her son was assaulted.
The victim made a report about the incident almost two weeks after it happened and told investigators she'd not come forward earlier because the man who attacked her threatened her with harm if she reported the attack to police.
Swanton said the incident report showed the victim was punched in the stomach and at one point tried to protect herself with her forearm, which was broken in the attack.
Swanton said the woman was pregnant at the time of the assault.
The man then turned on her 11-year-old son who tried to intervene to protect his mother.
The police report said the attacker grabbed the boy around the neck and lifted him off the floor.
