Waco: Local Man Charged After Break-In During Which Woman Attacked

WACO (May 8, 2013)--A Waco man was held Wednesday in the McLennan County Jail after a woman was assaulted following a break-in at her home.

Renard Glen Vaughn, 33, was ordered held in lieu of bonds totaling $361,000, charged with burglary of a habitation with intent to commit another felony, two counts of aggravated robbery enhanced, unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, assault family violence and assault dating violence and on a federal detainer without bond for possession of a weapon.

Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said at about 5:15 a.m. on Jan 27 officers were sent to a home on Garland Avenue after a caller had reported a burglary and assault.

Swanton said officers found a woman there who said her boyfriend had broken into her home and assaulted her.

She did not require medical attention, Swanton said.

In addition the woman had a cast on her foot that was the result of an earlier assault by the same man.

Swanton was not able to provide details of Vaughn's arrest.
