WACO (July 11, 2013)--A Waco man was held Thursday in the McLennan County Jail charged with two counts of injury to a child.
Ronnie Alfred Walker, III, was arrested Wednesday after police recovered some marijuana and when officers checked his record they learned he also was wanted on two warrant charging injury to a child.
Walker, 24, was facing a possession of marijuana charge and two charges of injury to a child Thursday.
Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said warrants were issued for Walker after an investigation into an incident in which a 4-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy were found to have significant bruises on their bottoms and legs and the girl had an injured lip.
Swanton said the children's caretaker reported the injuries to police after a man who also was caring for them turned them over to her.
Police called Child Protective Services, which left the children in custody of the woman who was caring for them and after an investigation turned the case over to police.
Swanton said the man had been caring for the children while their mother was hospitalized, having a baby.
