WOODWAY (May 9, 2014) A Waco woman was arrested in Woodway Thursday after police discovered that a large quantity of pain killers was missing from a local nursing home.

Casey Jean Symank, 30, posted a $5,000 bond Thursday and was released from the McLennan County Jail after she was charged with theft more than $1,500 but less than $20,000, a jail records clerk said.

An affidavit filed in the case says police began investigating at the Regent Care Center last April after staff there reported a large quantity of prescription drugs was missing from storage rooms at the center.

Ultimately authorities determined that more than $11,800 worth of hydrocodone and other narcotics had been stolen.

Falsified audit records showed the missing drugs had been dispensed to more than 40 patients.
