PALESTINE (April 17, 2013)—Police in Palestine say a Waco woman was killed early Sunday morning in a traffic crash.

Palestine police Sgt. James Muniz said Tranessa Nicole Reed, 21, was pronounced dead just after 6:30 a.m. Sunday at the scene of the accident in the 4600 block of West Oak Street.

In a news release issued by Palestine police, investigators say Reed was driving a Chrysler PT Cruiser eastbound on West Oak Street when the vehicle veered onto the shoulder.

Reed over-corrected and her car crossed the centerline and collided with the trailer of a westbound 18-wheeler, Muniz said.

The 42-year-old truck driver was not injured, Muniz said.

The justice of the peace who pronounced Reed dead ordered an autopsy.

Both Palestine police and troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety were investigating the crash, Muniz said.

Funeral services for Reed were pending at Pearly Gates Funeral Home in Mexia.
