WACO (February 25, 2013)--A man was held Monday in the McLennan County Jail after he was arrested in connection with an incident in which a woman was threatened with a gun that misfired.

Joel Price McCord, 24, was ordered held in lieu of $35,000 bond, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said the arrest stems from an assault that was reported at around 2:40 a.m. on Feb. 15 at a residence in the 3700 block of Leland Avenue where a caller said a man had pointed a gun at a woman during an argument.

Swanton said the officers learned a man had pulled a gun, pointed it at a woman and pulled the trigger, but the weapon failed to discharge.

Swanton said the armed man had been at the residence visiting relatives when the argument started.

The woman was not injured, Swanton said.

The assailant left the home before officers arrived but the victim was able to identify him and based upon that, officers obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Officers served the warrant Saturday when they found McCord staying at a Super 8 motel on Interstate 35 in Waco.
