WACO (December 13, 2013) A Waco man bonded out of the McLennan County Jail Friday after his arrest for possession of drugs in a school zone.

James Edward Counts, 45, posted a $1,000 bond and was released after he was charged with possession of marijuana in a drug free zone, McLennan County Jail records showed.

Dale Caffey, public information officer for the Waco Independent School District, said Waco ISD police stopped a driver Thursday afternoon for speeding in a school zone.

While the officer was issuing a citation, he noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the car.

During a search of the vehicle the officer found a substance he believed to be marijuana and the driver was arrested.

Counts is not a student at any Waco ISD school and has no relationship to the district, Caffey said.
