Waco: Man Indicted For Cameron Park Sexual Assault

WACO (March 20, 2013)--A man arrested late last month in connection with a sexual assault in a restroom at Cameron Park almost two years ago was indicted Wednesday.

Roberto Meza, 23, was named in a single-count indictment Wednesday charging sexual assault.

The indictment stems from the sexual assault of a teenage girl on July 7, 2011 inside a bathroom at Cameron Park.

An arrest warrant affidavit alleges Meza raped a 16-year-old girl.

The affidavit shows the victim told police she went with two friends to Cameron Park to meet a man at the Lover's Leap.

The three girls skipped class at Waco High School, stopped to pick up some beer and then headed to meet the man, the affidavit said.

The victim reported during the meeting the man took her into a restroom at the park and sexually assaulted her, then left in a green Ford Explorer.

The police report showed the man was a friend of one of the girls who knew him by another name.

Detectives identified Meza as a suspect last October and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

U.S. marshals arrested Meza last month in Webb County on the Texas-Mexico border.

His bond was set at $10,000 and he remains jailed on a federal immigration hold.
