WACO (February 12, 2013)--A Waco man was held Tuesday in the McLennan County Jail, charged with evading arrest, possession of crack cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.

Demarcus Donya Davis, 27, was ordered held on bonds totaling $13,000.

Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said on Sept. 1, 2012, officers were investigating a suspicious vehicle call at the Skinny's store at North 18th Street and Lyle Avenue, when a man ran from the store, jumped into a car and sped away.

Officers chased the car to the 1600 block of McKenzie Ave., where the driver jumped out and ran off.

On Monday, Department of Public Safety troopers stopped a car and identified the driver, who had an outstanding warrant stemming from the incident in September.

Davis was arrested at the scene and taken to the McLennan County Jail.
