WACO (November 26, 2012)--Two men and a woman were held Monday in the McLennan County Jail after they were arrested and charged with engaging in organized criminal activity in connection with a failed robbery.

Henry Lee Stanchiel, 41, Cynthia Ann Dawson, 41, and JC Lee Kirby, 28, all were ordered held in lieu of $500,000 bond each.

Kirby also was held on a parole violation without bond, according to McLennan County Jail records.

Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said the trio was arrested after a vehicle in which they were riding was stopped late Saturday night in the 2600 block of LaSalle Avenue.

A man and woman who had checked into the Motel 6 in the 3100 block of S. Interstate 35 reported an armed man had attempted to rob them.

The man was armed with what turned out to be a BB pistol.

The would-be robber demanded the man's wallet, but the man refused to hand it over.

The woman ran to the motel office and called police.

Meanwhile the armed man fled to a parked Chevrolet Suburban where two other people were waiting and the trio fled in the SUV.

The SUV was later spotted on La Salle.

Officers stopped it and arrested the three occupants.

Officers also recovered a weapon from the vehicle.

No one was injured, Swanton said.
