WACO (February 11, 2013)--A Waco man and woman were held Monday in the McLennan County Jail on various charges stemming from the discovery of drugs in a car after a weekend traffic stop.
Ronald Kim Arellano, 42, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, evading arrest and was held without bond on a state parole violation.
Amy Annette Rogers, 30, was ordered held on bonds totaling $11,000, charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of possession of a dangerous drug.
The were arrested after officers pulled over a car at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 35 near the New Road exit because one of the people in the vehicle had an open knife, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.
As officers searched the occupants of the vehicle for weapons, they found what they believed was a methamphetamine pipe,a small amount of a substance believed to be methamphetamine, and two types of prescription drugs for which neither had a prescription, Swanton said.
The man tried to escape by running from officers.
He was quickly apprehended, but as officers caught up to him he began to fight them, Swanton said.
Swanton reported officers used a stun gun to bring him under control.
