WACO (May 23, 2013)--Police fanned out Wednesday along Franklin Avenue in the area of Floyd Casey stadium in search of a man and a woman after what started as a shoplifting attempt turned violent at the Dollar General Store at 3400 Franklin.

Within a few minutes officers took Greg Allen Coleman, 30, and Brittney Mattison, 30, into custody.

Coleman was in custody Thursday at the McLennan County Jail where he was ordered held in lieu of a $10,000 bond charged with robbery.

Mattson posted a $5,000 bond on a robbery charge and was released Wednesday afternoon, a jail records clerk said.

The two were attempting to leave the store with shoplifted merchandise when an employee confronted them, police said.

The woman punched the man with her fist and threw merchandise at him and then the two fled on foot.

Coleman pushed the clerk during the altercation, said Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton.
