WACO (May 8, 2014) Two women were taken to a Waco hospital Thursday after two vehicles collided at North 18th Street and Columbus Avenue, near downtown.

Police said a white sedan collided with a green suburban in the middle of the intersection as one of the drivers was attempting to turn left onto to turn north on 18th Street.

The sedan glanced off the Suburban and went on to crash into a fire hydrant and a utility service box.

The traffic control light also was out, police said.

A 38-year-old woman complaining of chest pain from hitting the steering wheel was taken to a local hospital and a 78-year-old woman was also transported as a precaution.
