WACO (August 27, 2013)--Professor David Guinn, a Baylor law professor of 48 years, was selected as the 2013 Baylor Lawyer of the Year.
Selected by a committee of the Baylor Law Alumni Association for his strong mentorship and influence, Guinn assisted in the drafting of the Texas Administrative Procedures Act, state and local redistricting process, and has served on numerous committees.
He completed law school at Baylor and received his Juris Doctor in 1963, however, did not receive his bachelor’s degree until nearly 40 years later.
“(To complete degree requirements) He took the additional hours secretly and surprised us with his new college degree. His doing that serves as a wonderful example of how David deeply values the educational experience,” Baylor Law School Dean Brad Toben said.
“I have had occasion to interview many graduates of Baylor Law School, and it was remarkable that all of the students mentioned Professor Guinn as being their favorite teacher,” graduate George Chandler said.
