WACO (October 25, 2012)--The Art Center of Waco will host a five-day community celebration to include a festival, book signing, trick or treating and Day of the Dead festivities.
Beginning Thursday, a book signing will be held by artist Margie Crisp, author of the “River of Contrasts: The Texas Colorado.”
The event will last from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the center.
On Saturday, the Starving Artists’ Market will get underway from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. along with the Incognito Ball from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m.
Tickets are $55 per person and money will go toward future exhibits and art educational programming.
On Sunday, the Pumpkin Event (and Starving Artists’ Market) will kick off from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. with activities to include mask making, apple bobbing, face painting, a costume contest, pumpkin carving and live music.
The event is free and open to the public but gourmet hot dogs, nachos, and drinks will be for sale.
On Wednesday, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., parents will have an opportunity to view art while children trick or treat in a safe environment.
The final event is on Thursday from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
The Day of the Dead celebration is a Hispanic tradition to honor the lives of friends and family who have passed away.
Festivities will include music, dancers, games and food.
All of the events are free.
