WACO (September 25, 2012)--“Oso Safe,” Baylor University’s annual Campus Safety and Awareness Day, will include demonstrations from the fire department and other organizations that contribute to public safety.

Representatives from several local agencies will be on hand to share information on emergency services, health care, fire safety, crime prevention, computer and personal security.

The fire department will hold a controlled “live burn” demonstration on Fifth Street across from the student center. A mock dorm room will be intentionally set on fire to show students how quickly a fire can spread in a dorm room setting.

“We are very excited to engage students, faculty and staff about the various safety measures available to them through the programs, distinctive knowledge and experience of the various Baylor and local organizations who will join us for Oso Safe,” Director of Emergency Management Leigh Ann Moffett said.
