WACO (April 16, 2013)--Baylor sophomore and Lorena resident Holly Tucker is one step closer to living her dream as a country music star after advancing from the battle round Monday night in NBC’s “The Voice” singing competition.
“The Voice” begins with a blind competition where participants get selected based only on their quality of sound.
After all four judges demonstrated a desire to have the singer on their team to mentor and coach, country music singer Blake Shelton was selected by Tucker to serve as her musical mentor and it is paying off.
A joint performance between Tucker and Michelle Raitzin gave Tucker the leading edge after judges Blake Shelton and Maroon 5’s Adam Levine concluded that she blew them away.
The two sung Carrie Underwood’s hit song “Blown Away.”
Other judges include singer-songwriter Shakira and R&B artist Usher.
According to the judges, Tucker has a pretty good chance of advancing to the finals where the viewers will have a voice.
Part Two of the battles will air Tuesday night followed by a “Part 3” on April 22.
