Waco: City Bus Passenger Injured In Collision

WACO (October 15, 2012)-A Waco woman was injured Monday afternoon when the city bus in which she was riding was involved in an accident with a pickup truck.

A Waco police officer who investigated the accident said at around 1 p.m. the bus driver was attempting to avoid a collision with another vehicle in the 4200 block of West Waco Drive when the bus collided with the pickup.

The woman, who was the lone bus passenger, fell from her seat and sustained minor injuries.

She was taken by ambulance from the scene to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center for treatment and evaluation.

The bus driver and the driver of the Dodge Dakota pickup truck were not injured, police said.

Traffic at 42nd St. and West Waco Dr. was disrupted for a short time, but had returned to normal within about half-an-hour.

A Waco Transit supervisor at the scene declined to comment on the system's policy concerning traffic accidents.

The bus driver was sent home for the rest of the day.
