WACO (March 4, 2013)--Austin Avenue in downtown Waco will see an increase in monitoring and patrolling to promote tourism and encourage the usage of parking space.

The Waco Police Department will begin monitoring parking along that street on April 1 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to assure those who dine and shop will have access to nearby parking for up to two hours.

The project is designed to help ensure close parking spots to downtown businesses for those shopping and dining in the area.

Tickets will continue to be issued to drivers parked longer than two hours.

The change will affect Austin Avenue from 9th to 4th Streets.
