WACO (October 22, 2012)--A “Raise the Roof” event gets underway Monday when city employees and elected officials will work to build a new home.
City representatives will offer motivational words at a kickoff ceremony during a break in the construction process.
The Raise the Roof project began in 1999 as part of a nationwide effort for municipalities to improve housing in their communities.
Sixteen homes have been built locally as a result of the project.
The W. Lacy Clifton Fund at the Waco Foundation provided the funds for this year’s construction project.
It is the eight house funded by the organization since 2005.
