WACO (November 12, 2012)--Wednesday and Thursday’s Greater Waco Community Education Summit will work to provide resources to parents, businesses, teachers and others to ensure student success in the community.

While attendees needed to register before the cutoff date Wednesday, a come and go community celebration to include refreshments, school performances and new technology for children and adults to try out will be held Thursday.

China Spring Cougar Band Drum Major Ashlyn Ray will also perform before heading out to NYC to take part in Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade as part of Macy’s Great American Marching Band.

That event is free and open to the public beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the Greater Waco Community Education Alliance at 1005 Wooded Acres.

Attendees who preregistered for the “Gaining Momentum” summit will enjoy networking and a dinner banquet on parental engagement by AVANCE President and CEO Rick Noriega on Wednesday.

Thursday’s events include a speech by former Lieutenant Texas Governor Bill Ratliff who will discuss “The tragedy of Current State Education Funding,” followed by 17 breakout sessions.

Thursday’s luncheon will feature SpaceX employees to discuss the future and technology.

The education summit will get underway at the Waco Convention Center.
