WACO (September 14, 2012)--“Fight the Bite,” a West Nile awareness meeting, is slated for Sunday at Fast Eddie’s World Class Billiards and Sports.

The meeting has been organized by a family member of a Bellmead man who died after getting the virus.

It was the first West Nile-related death reported in McLennan County.

The West Nile virus is spread through mosquitoes and tends to affect those with weaker immune systems like infants and the elderly.

Attendees will learn how to decrease their chances of getting the virus and will also receive bug spray samples.

A question and answer session will also take place.

According to an event organizer, a raffle and DJ will be on scene to make sure the event is as much entertaining as it is educational.

The facility is located on N. Valley Mills.

For more information, call the sports tavern at (254) 399-9300.
