Waco: Former Law Firm Employee Indicted In $45,000 Theft

WACO (July 11, 2013)--Diane Crespo, the former receptionist for a group of Waco lawyers, was indicted Wednesday in connection with a theft from the firm.

Crespo was named in an indictment charging theft of more than $20,000 but less than $100,000, which is a third-degree felony that is punishable by a prison term of from 2 to 10 years and a of as much as $10,000.

An arrest affidavit said Crespo not only served as a receptionist for the firm but also accepted payments from clients, some of which were made in cash.

Police say she took more than $45,000 from the business over a period of almost four years.

Crespo remained free on bond Thursday.
