WACO (October 3, 2013)--The Heart O’ Texas Fair and Rodeo gets underway in earnest Friday, but the gates opened Thursday evening for a sneak preview.
From 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. Thursday, admission was $5 for all visitors 3 and older and all carnival rides were $1.
The fair runs through Oct. 12 at the Extraco Events Center in Waco.
Admission may vary depending on the day, but is usually $10 for visitors 13 and older, $5 for children ages 3-12, and free for children 2 and younger.
Admission doesn’t cover each of the six nights of performances in the Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo’s Music Zone.
Six artists ranging from ACM nominee Lee Brice, Eli Young, Aaron Watson and the Randy Rogers Band will perform in the Music Zone, which makes its debut this year.
It’s an enclosed outdoor area with bleachers and tickets are required for admission.
A Music Zone Pass good for admission to all six concerts as well as gate admission to the fair is available.

Four-time Academy of Country Music nominee Lee Brice gets this parking lot party kicked off on Friday, October 4, along with The Brett Hendrix Band. Cost is $21 and includes gate admission to the Fair.
On Saturday, October 5, the Eli Young Band will bring a crazy good time to the Music Zone. Cost is $21 and includes gate admission to the Fair.
Next up in the Music Zone is Honky Tonk Kid – Aaron Watson – on Wednesday, October 9. Opening for Aaron, is Central Texas native SaraBeth. Cost is $16 and includes gate admission to the F air.
Acclaimed singer, songwriter and musician – Andy Grammer – will make you want to keep your head up while you let your hair down during his performance on Thursday, October 10. Original Red Dirt Texas Country group – The Chris Low Band – will get the night started. Cost is $21 and includes gate admission to the Fair.
On Friday, October 11, you’re going to love Chris Young’s performance like there’s no tomorrow. Opening for Chris Young is the ever favorite Texas born-an d-bred singer/songwriter Granger Smith. Cost is $21 and includes gate admission to the Fair.
Closing out the Music Zone on Saturday, October 12, is the always loved and entertaining Randy Rogers Band. Opening for the Randy Rogers Band is the no-bull, straight from the heart singer Brian Keane. Cost is $21 and includes gate admission to the Fair. VIP tickets are available this night.
