WACO (May 1, 2013)--A Cinco de Mayo luncheon organized by Baylor’s Department of Multicultural Affairs will feature remarks from a Hispanic female 20-year Army veteran.

Consuelo Castillo Kickbusch graduated from Hardin Simmons University prior to entering the military.

During her military career she became the highest-ranking Hispanic woman in the combat support field of the Army and retired as a lieutenant colonel.

Other achievements include founding Educational Achievement Services, Inc. in 1996, a human development company that works with more than a million children and their parents.

Kickbusch was selected to speak at the event because of her achievements and commitment to education.

“We look at Cinco de Mayo as a way to educate others about Mexican culture and heritage, as we celebrate together at the same time,” event spokesperson Diana Balderas said.

The event is a collaborative effort of several departments and organizations inside Baylor University.

The luncheon is set to begin at noon Wednesday on the fifth floor of the Cashion Academic Center on S. Fourth Street.
