WACO (May 20, 2013)—Television crews from HGTV have spent the last several weeks zoomed in on one local couple in hopes of making their business a television success.
Shortly after their graduation from Baylor in 2003, Chip and Joanna Gaines married and Joanna opened up a boutique shop on Bosque Blvd.
Chip continued his work in real estate buying, renovating, and selling homes to Baylor students and their parents.
Several years and four children later, the couple merged their design and renovation interests to form Magnolia Homes, a remodeling business that offers remodeling, design, new construction and real estate services.
The couple was contacted last year by a production company with HGTV who recruited them to film a new pilot series called “Fixer Upper.”
In the show, the couple has one month to fix up an old Waco home.
The show will air to the public on Thursday at 7 p.m. on HGTV.
The couple would star in “Fixer Upper” if optioned for a full series and houses will only be featured in the Dallas, Fort Worth, Waco, Austin and San Antonio areas.
Other than their company website, Joanna also keeps up with her blog “the Magnolia Mom” that details her latest projects, design tips and DIY projects.
Her blog can be found on the company website.
