WACO (July 26, 2012)--A man was sentenced to federal prison Wednesday after he earlier pleaded guilty to possessing stolen government property.
U.S. District Judge Walter S. Smith sentenced Joseph Garcia to 18 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years on supervised release, and ordered him to pay a $500 fine and $100 in special assessment to the court.
Garcia was one of four men and a woman accused of possessing at least three articles of defense equipment called AN/PEQ 15 Advanced Target Pointer Illuminator Aiming Lasers.
Angelique McRae, Joel Robert Stone, Michael Barcth, Sr. and Daniel Alejandre all were sentenced on May 8.
Prosecutors say the group planned to sell the lasers to foreign buyers.
