WACO (May 3, 2013)--A new greenhouse near the VA water tower at the Waco VA Medical Center will give residents there a chance to bond with nature.

Retired VA employee Tom Hughes oversees the greenhouse operation that was designed to offer a calming environment of plants and flowers where veterans can work with their hands and plant something beautiful.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Friday to welcome the new greenhouse.

The greenhouse is open every Friday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. with proceeds from plants and craft sales to benefit the VA hospital.

Waco VA Medical Center is located at 4800 Memorial Drive.
