WACO (February 25, 2013)--The Policy Board of the Waco Metropolitan Planning Organization will meet Tuesday to discuss proposed changes to the highway functional classification system within McLennan County and the proposed changes to the adjusted urbanized area boundary for Waco.
The functional classification system classifies each roadway within the Metropolitan area by its through traffic and local access traffic.
Roads must have heavy traffic in order to be eligible for federal funds.
Every 10 years the US Census Bureau defines the urbanized area boundary for the Waco area.
The organization will meet to discuss adjusting this boundary to aid in funding eligibility for public transportation services.
The meeting will begin at 2 p.m. in the HOT Council of Governments building on S. New Road.
