WACO (October 11, 2012)--The Heart of Texas CROP Hunger Walk Sunday hopes to raise $5,000 to help end hunger and poverty.
More than $4,000 was raised in last year’s walk.
The event will take place at Bledsoe-Miller Park on Martin Luther King Blvd at 3 p.m.
Registration is scheduled for 2 p.m.
The 3.2-mile route will go up the Brazos River Walk to the Herring Avenue Bridge and across, down through the Pecan bottoms of Cameron Park, to the Washington Street Bridge and back to Bledsoe-Miller Park.
A shorter “Golden Mile” route will also be available to take.
CROP Hunger Walks are held in more than 2,000 cities across the nation.
The action of walking empathizes with those who walk long distances to find food and water.
Proceeds will go to Church World Service and Caritas of Waco.
